Singapore Lawyers- Skillful & Sincere

For many of my readers, you will know that I am in the finance industry and actively blending into Singapore society.

During my course of work, I did meet some lawyers who left good impressions on me. One such lawyer I like to talk about in this post is Mr. Chia Boon Teck from Chia Wong LLP. You can visit his website at www.chiawongllp.com if you like to know more about him.

What makes this lawyer outstanding to me is the great work he does for some of my friends. If you do your research, you will find many testimonials from his clients such as Mr John Baey from Abterra Ltd who feel that Chia Boon Teck and his partner Wong Kai Yun are outstanding lawyers who are persuasive in speech and writing as well as able to analyse his case from numerous angles and fight for his interest. Mrs Julie Ho also had pleasant experience engaging his services and felt that Mr. Chia Boon Teck is very professional and helped eased her concern during the whole stressful situation.

In Mr. Chia Boon Teck’s office, there is a plague that said:

"Talk is cheap until you hire a lawyer."

This is so true, especially for an expat like me who have no prior experience with Singapore law. Sometimes, we may encounter difficult situations where a lawyer is the only way for us to navigate through them. In year 2010, lawyer Chia Boon Teck helped Mr. S, an expat like me, in tackling his situation proactively without giving any false hopes, always sharing best and worst scenarios. He found that Chia Boon Teck’s legal predictions matched the way the cards are played throughout the legal process.

PS. You can google for his name “Chia Boon Teck” or “criminal lawyer” and will find his website link. There are numerous trusted feedbacks from his clients. Click here for the link I am referring to.

Being an expat in a foreign country, one must sometimes thread carefully. In well-publicised news on Yahoo, there may be a trend of a certain group of women targeting expats like me in dance clubs. (Honestly, I was shocked at the article as all Singapore ladies I met so far are great decent people).

The story is as follows…Mr. Expat goes clubbing and get tipsy after drinking and letting his hair down, a woman gets friendly on the dance floor and snuggle up to him. What seems like a romantic encounter suddenly becomes an accusation of molestation. Well, being tipsy means that Mr Expat can’t really recall much and thus, compensation is made out to the woman than fight it out in court.

With around 100 cases per year for the past two years, a word of caution to my fellow expats is to steer clear of drinks and women. As highlighted by lawyer Chia Boon Teck in that article, expats are being targeted as chances of getting money from us are higher. Oh men, what to do when many of us cannot afford to get into trouble with the law or we LOSE OUR JOBS (not easy to find one in current economy situation). For some of my friends who constantly travel for meetings, think of the harm and lost revenue if our passports get impounded.

Just last year, Mr Chia Boon Teck handled 3 such cases. If you are drunk and unable to recall details, the women’s side of the story will often be unchallenged unless she is caught telling lies on the witness stand. The punishment can even be caned or jailed in worst-case scenarios of aggravated form of molest involving breasts or private parts.

Advice from lawyer Boon Teck- Don’t get drunk during clubbing, if you must, don’t go alone and make sure at least someone sober is around to be a witness.

If you suffer from the above scenarios, time to pick up the phone and speak to a lawyer to prevent wasting your hard-earned money.

Besides Mr Chia Boon Teck, I have also met some other good and sincere lawyers. In my honest opinion, choose wisely when it comes to engaging a lawyer as a wrong one can caused you to suffer not only financial loss but emotional stress.

Some other skilful and sincere lawyers are:

CHIA WONG LLP- Miss Wong Kai Yun
JUST LAW LLC - Mr Brij Rai
Regional Law LLC - David Gan
Vision Law LLC - Ong Bok Kee
MARY ONG & CO - Mary Ong

I will share more good lawyers as happen to meet or deal with any. Those mentioned above are all tried and tested from first-hand experience and not based on hearsay. I know you, my dear readers will find them useful.

Feel free to email me for any queries.
